This study was developed to identify current protection needs of Venezuelan refugees and migrants in Aruba, Curaçao, Dominican Republic, Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago and present recommendations for strengthened protection responses. The study is presented in line with the Inter-Agency Coordination Platform for Refugees and Migrants from Venezuela (R4V) commitment to protection as a central responsibility of its humanitarian response. It has been developed as part of the efforts of the Regional Protection Sector and the Sub-Regional Platform for the Caribbean.
Situation update and report of activities of R4V partners. The 2022 Regional Refugee and Migrant Response Plan (RMRP) appeal was launched on 9 December via a virtual event, and 10 December marked the final day of the 16 Days of Activism to end violence against women. Salary reductions impacted communities in Aruba; Venezuelans in Curaçao sought repatriation; employers could face fines for hiring undocumented workers in the Dominican Republic; food insecurity and malnutrition continued to impact Guyana; Trinidad and Tobago minister reaffirmed immigration policies.

Este informe hace un diagnóstico de la situación práctica y jurídica del derecho a la salud de las personas refugiadas y migrantes venezolanas, centrado en el territorio de Medellín y el Área Metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá, y con énfasis en la etapa del aseguramiento y permanencia en el Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud (SGSSS), así como en los perfiles poblacionales que presentan un mayor estado de desprotección con respecto al acceso y permanencia en el sistema.

OBJETIVOS DEL ESTUDIO 1. Profundizar en las medidas de mitigación y recuperación adoptadas por los países de ALC, frente a la crisis sanitaria generada por la COVID-19 y su impacto en la población migrante y refugiada, especialmente en los países de: Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, México, Panamá, Perú y República Dominicana en materia de Regularización, Protección social y Economía y empleo. 2. Identificar barreras en los países de ALC que dificultaron la aplicación e implementación de las medidas adoptadas por los gobiernos nacionales y locales en la atención e integración de la población refugiada y migrante bajo una visión humanitaria en el contexto de la COVID-19. 3. Formular recomendaciones de política pública a partir de las barreras y las buenas prácticas identificadas, que permitan potencializar y obtener mayores beneficios para la población migrante y refugiada en ALC.
